OPI – Minnie Mouse Collection

Here is a fun and flirty looking Summer 2012 collection by OPI called Minnie Mouse. I have not yet gotten my hands on but I cannot wait for it to arrive in the post. But here are some samples by others.

I am really loving that Barbie pink color. The glitter nail polish looks kinda cute but I can already tell that is going to be a bit of a hassle to apply, you always have to fish those glitter pieces out.

I would love to match up these polishes with fuchsia lipstick.

Jordana Haul and Swatches

Couldn’t resist buying up some polishes today, luckily the colors that caught my attention were from the cheapie range Jordana.

The first is called Creamy Fuchsia and is anything but fuchsia, even if it were creamy. This is more of a salmoney hot pink, very caliente! Can’t wait for summer to wear it, I think it will look amazing against tanned skin (not so great against my dry, winter chapped hands).

The second nail polish is my favourite shade, it’s called Boy Oh Boy and is a gorgeous teal. However, I could NOT get this color to photography correctly, it always turns out much bluer and lighter in the images.

The third polish is from the Jordana Glitters range called Lunar Lights and it is a multi colored holographic glitter with larger hex glitter and tiny round glitter in a milky jelly. I just loved the sparkle. This polish smells very strongly of the type of glue I used as a kid in school. I unfortunately have to say it smelled cheap, even though the price for this one was dearer (coming in at $5.95 as opposed to $3.50 for the other two).

….and now for the pictures, please excuse the short nails, dry hands and dodgy mani. Two coats of the teal and pink and then one top coat of glitter.

Glitter, Green, OPI, Orly

Orly – Here Comes Trouble

I bought the mani minis from the Orly summer 2011 Pinup Collection and immediately tried the one that most caught my eye: Here Comes Trouble. I applied it over OPI’S Stranger Tides. A green glitter polish with a yellowish green jelly base and micro plus medium sized glitter particles in the same shade of acid green.

I then added OPI’s Black Shatter to the top, my nails look kind of scary yet the effect is also really cool.

China Glaze – Fast Track

China Glaze Fast Track (District 6 – Transportation) from The Capitol Colors Collection. A warm beige packed with tiny yellow gold micro-flecks. Two coats for opacity. The following images are in every type of lighting I could possibly find. I know lots of people out there really love this, but I am not completely convinced. It might be nicer if my nails were shorter or perhaps my skin tone was a mismatch, I wanted to love this polish more than I did.

Black, Glitter, Nubar, White

Nubar – Polka Dots

Polka Dots, the pretty glitter topcoat collection from Nubar.

My nails were already painted with Orly’s You’re Blushing pastel purple and I thought it would be fun to try out these glitter top coats. I used the black polka dots on one hand and the white polka dots on the other. Just one coat of each, quite sparing on the glitter side, especially the larger hex glitter. Both are cute but I prefer the black polka dot as it is more unique. The white polka dot is kind of a poor man’s Pirouette My Whistle from OPI.

Glitter, OPI, Silver

OPI – Pirouette My Whistle

In my opinion Pirouette My Whistle is the absolute STAR of the New York City Ballet Collection. This is a delicate, dreamy, whimsical glitter polish with tiny silver glitter and larger hex white glitter dancing around in a clear base. It looks amazing over each and every sheer polish in this collection. I think I just found my new fav glitter polish.

For all of these images I used three coats of the sheer polishes in the New York City Ballet Collection and one coat of Pirouette My Whistle. The differences are so subtle that only nail polish addicts would notice them! lol, but my favs are over Don’t Touch My Tutu and My Pointe Exactly.

Chi Chi, Glitter

Chi Chi – Crystal Top Coat

Chi Chi Crystal Top Coat is exactly what I have been looking for! Beautiful reflective colorful flakes in a clear top coat that creates a stunning opalescent effect.

It really looks best over darker nail polishes. This mani has two coats of Revlon Rock with one coat of Crystal top coat.

Here it is over a fabulous orange nail polish by Rimmel called Apricot Punch. Three coats of Apricot Punch and two coats of Chi Chi Crystal Top Coat .

Black, Fuchsia and Bright Pinks, Glitter, Purple, Revlon

Revlon – Scandalous

I LOVE Revlon Scandalous (previously known as Shades of Fuchsia). It is just such a nice polish, a black base with small round and large hex fuchsia glitter dancing around, so fab. And it is a subtle glitter polish to wear as from afar it just looks like black polish but then your eye catches a flash of something sparkly. I really enjoy wearing this one!

I used three coats of Revlon Scandalous with one top coat of Sally Hansen Double Duty. The following images were taken in different lighting conditions, this nail polish really stands out in the sunlight!

Glitter, Purple, Revlon

Revlon – Grape Fizz

Grape Fizz is a scented polish from Revlon. This looks like an amazing deep purple glitter polish in the bottle but it turns out to be an extremely sheer purple base jelly with blue, purple and fuchsia flecks. I had to use five coats to get the results in the pictures. Looks great but the nails seemed thick and the drying time was just too much.

I think this is a polish that I would probably use as a topper to add some glittery shimmer to another color.

Revlon – Popular

Revlon’s Popular is a re-release of what was previously known as Starry Pink. This is a unique, pretty light baby pink with silver micro glitter and larger silver hexagonal glitter. This has a very milky look to it, must be the baby pink over the silver glitter which creates that strange effect. I think this is quite a cute polish for when you want something a little bit different but not too out there.

I used two coats for this mani.
